All About Maxillo Winnipeg

We are pleased to welcome you to Winnipeg’s newest oral and maxillofacial surgical facilities. Our northeast Winnipeg location is approximately 8 minutes from downtown with easy access from Henderson Highway or Main Street (via the Redwood Bridge). This facility is located in the brand new Henderson Professional Centre located at 755 Henderson Highway Suite 303. Our west Winnipeg location is at 2305 Portage Avenue (intersection of Portage Ave. and Mount Royal Rd.). Both of our facilities are wheelchair accessible and have free parking.

Maxillo Winnipeg offers treatment for a wide variety of issues related to the teeth, mouth, jaws and face. Our doctors practice broad scope oral and maxillofacial surgery ranging from routine dental extractions to corrective jaw surgery and traumatic injuries of the face.

Our goal at Maxillo Winnipeg is to ensure our patients receive safe and comfortable treatment in a fully accredited surgical facility. Our facility is accredited for a variety of different sedation techniques including intravenous (commonly referred to as, “sedation dentistry” or “sleep dentistry”). Our surgical staff and professional team of board-certified anesthesiologists and nurses are ready to make your experience at Maxillo Winnipeg a positive one.

Dr. Kurt Scherle

Dr. Scherle is a born and raised Manitoban. He attended Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School followed by the University of Manitoba for twelve years of post secondary training. He completed his dental degree in 2009 followed by a Hospital Internship at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre. His residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was completed in 2014. He defended his thesis and received a Master’s degree from the University of Manitoba and successfully passed the National Dental Specialty Examinations earning him fellowship status with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Scherle holds hospital privileges at Health Sciences Centre and the Childrens Hospital. He maintains his private practice at Maxillo Winnipeg and also holds a teaching position at the University of Manitoba, College of Dentistry in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery clinic. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists, a specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the Manitoba Dental Association.

When away from the office, Kurt enjoys anything outdoors – fishing, boating, hunting and playing golf. He regularly attends and teaches continuing education courses so he can provide the best care to his patients.

Dr. Kevin Vint

Dr. Vint was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba. He completed Dental School at the University of Manitoba in 2012, where he received the gold medal for highest academic standing. Following this, he completed a Hospital Dental Internship in 2013 and a residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2017. After defending his thesis on alveolar bone grafting, he presented at an international level to receive his Master’s degree. Having passed the National Dental Specialty Examination, he received his fellowship status with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Vint is an active member of the Canadian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is a specialist member of the Manitoba Dental Association.

He has been published in an international journal for his work on the application of virtual surgical planning and 3D printing to more efficiently reconstruct maxillofacial trauma and pathology.

Dr. Vint holds a teaching position in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, and Orthodontics at the University of Manitoba.

When he’s not attending continuing education or organizing the next Maxillo Winnipeg Continuing Education, Kevin enjoys an active lifestyle and spending time with his family.

Dr. Jeff Bassey

Dr. Jeff Bassey was born and raised in Manitoba. He completed his undergraduate science degree at the University of Manitoba in 2016 and graduated from the College of Dentistry in 2016. Following dental school, he completed an internship at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg immediately followed by a four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program at the University of Manitoba and Health Sciences Centre.

Dr. Bassey holds a teaching position with the University of Manitoba in the Undergraduate Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic and stays involved in the dental community through continuing education.

When he’s not working with patients at Maxillo, Dr. Bassey is an avid golfer who enjoys spending time outdoors as well as spending time with family.

Dr. Victor Le

A home-grown Winnipegger, Dr. Victor Le completed his undergraduate studies followed by his dental degree at the University of Manitoba. He moved to Quebec to complete a 1-year residency at the Montreal General Hospital then returned to Winnipeg to complete his four-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) residency. He successfully defended his thesis, with a focus on Botox, to obtain a Master’s degree and pass the National Dental Specialty Examination.

Dr. Le spent two years training abroad focusing on pediatric cranio-maxillofacial surgery and corrective jaw surgery as a Fellow Surgeon at the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne. He later earned status as an Honorary Surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, operated at numerous Epworth Hospitals, and lectured with OMFS trainees. Dr. Le then travelled to Dublin, Ireland to operate at the prestigious St. James’s Hospital and Crumlin Hospital working at the National Maxillofacial Unit of Ireland with a focus on Trauma and Oncology.

Dr. Le has lectured extensively internationally and published international articles on a variety of fields within OMFS. He is a Fellow with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a specialist member of the Manitoba Dental Association, a member of the Canadian and American Associations in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and teaches at the University of Manitoba, College of Dentistry.

Dr. Victor Le is excited to be back home to the people of Manitoba. When not working, he enjoys fishing, tennis, the Winnipeg Jets, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Ryan Howard

Ryan was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and completed an undergraduate Honours degree in Biochemistry at the University of Manitoba. Following his undergraduate degree, Ryan completed his dental training at the University of Manitoba Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry where he graduated in 2017, receiving a number of honors including the University Gold Medal for highest standing, while also being heavily involved in student council and extracurriculars throughout his dental degree.

Ryan then completed a hospital internship at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre, and subsequently completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Manitoba, earning a Master’s degree. Following the completion of his specialty training, he successfully completed the NDSE and RCDC examinations. Ryan looks forward to practicing a wide variety of dentoalveolar and implant-based oral surgery procedures, and has a particular interest in implant dentistry and orthognathic surgery.

When not working to help his patients, Ryan enjoys spending his time on the golf course, travelling, and going for runs with the family dog, Lucy.
